PANDA ROOM
1 - 2 Year Olds
Our Panda Room is a purpose-built early years room, creating full-day care spaces for children between the ages of 1 and 2-years-old and is open from 08:00 am - 17:00 pm Monday to Friday.
We offer the option of term-time day care or full-time day care all year round, with the exception of Christmas closure week, the last week of August closure, bank holidays and Inset/Staff Training days.
We work on a 1:3 ratio of staff to children in our Panda Room for our 1-2 year olds. We are able to accommodate up to 9 children in each Panda Room session and are registered with Ofsted to take up to a maximum of 48 Early Years children on site at any one time across our Panda Room 1-2 years, Zebra Room 2-3 years and Giraffe Room 3-4 years combined.
All About Us
Our Panda Room is led by Grace. In our Panda Room, we recognise the importance of early attachments. We promote positive and trusting relationships with our babies and parents/carers through our Key Person approach. Each family is offered a Home Visit before starting to meet their Key Person to support settling in, as well as gain a shared understanding of each child’s individual needs and interests. Our Panda Room team will communicate information about their Key Children’s day using our online ‘Dayshare’ diary, accessible to all parents on our Parenta App. Our Panda Room team will regularly observe their Key Children in their play and support learning, recording observations using our online Footsteps observation platform and upload for parents and carers.
Our Panda Room provides a nurturing and enabling environment through baby led play. Our day consists of lots of enjoyable sensory exploration as this promotes early brain development, as well as our babies having fun as they enjoy getting messy and using their senses to explore. Examples of our sensory and malleable activities include shaving foam, body painting, sand, water, rice, play-dough, corn flakes.

Outdoor Exploring
We have a dedicated secure outside space for our Panda children to explore and as they get older, we encourage them to join our 2-3 year olds with transitional visits in the Zebra Room and garden. This encourages learning from peers as well as promoting responsibility in our older children. Our Panda children regularly access our Forest area throughout their week.
We have our 6-seater pushchair known as our ‘bus’. This allows our staff to take our Panda Room children out regularly in the local community, visiting the Library, shops, park and the community garden.
We have a quiet area, with nursery-approved sleep mats covered in fresh cotton sheets daily for nap/rest times. Please see our ‘Safer Sleeping for Babies’ Policy for our safer sleeping practices.
